'Blog Comments' XxNaziyaXx

1. What do you think of our blog?
What do you particularly like about it? What's especially impressive?
What could be improved? What's missing or could be added?

2. Based on what you've read on the blog (and maybe seen in test screenings in class) what suggestions do you have regarding what we could do to make our Practical Production really successful?

What other things could we include in the production?
How should we go about filming any remaining scenes or editing the footage during post-production (+ suggestions for music, etc.)?

1.I liked the colours of the blog as they proved attractive. I also liked the fact that there were pictures posted up which resulted in the blog appealing more as it's interesting to view.

I feel there should be more background research carried out on Islamophobia as it would benefit the work carried out and also research on documentaries would prove helpful as you would get ideas as a result.

2. I think other things you could include, are a varitey of different locations as it will prove more interesting to watch and also to interview a wide range of people so people from many different cultures and backgrounds can share their views.

For post production, it would be ideal to use close ups on people being interviewed to see their facial expressons, the music you could use could maybe be serious and therefore parallel as this is a serious issue.

Well, i really like your blog. I think its nice with all the different bold colours against a pink background.
I think to improve it yo should include more research about documentaris which have actually been shown on a tv channel like 4 or bbc1/2 etc. For instance i remeber seeing a documentary on something to do with 'Islamophobia' ages ago on channel 4 or 5 im not sure but it showed a message of this new word people have created and its all to do with racism etc. It was really interesting do you should think bout that.
For your documentary, you should actually include things like, religious prayers, for instance think of the AZAAN being played as a voice over when you decide to start it off with the 'islamophobia' text.
I think you lot should show a lot of newspaper articles like you have posted on your blog and use a voiceover explaining all of the stories about it.
Good luck and inshallah your works gonna be pretty good.

i really like ur blog, it looks realy nice with bright colours and good detailed progress reports , we can see what ur really up to. i really like that u have many videos which makes the blog looks better, i like the way when u added pictures of u when u were filming.
what i think you could add to ur blog, other research to make it look bettter, because u have really good detailed proigress reports, and if u can add the first footage of ur production so for people to see what ur doing.

i havent seen ur footage but form ur test screening it shows that ur production so far is good that u got a B for most of them.
to make the production looks better u could go to different places and film differnt people from differnt back ground and ask them what they think of Islamphobia not only muslim people to have different opinions and ideas.some said that the camera was a bit shaky because u didnt use a tripod, i suggest u use the tripod to make it real and it will be so much better.
good luck for the editing

The blog itself seems very appealing and im sure its attracted everyone's attention... your keeping everyone up to date on what you are or will be doing which is excellent!

Try doing a bit more research maybe secondary research would help aswelll seen as this is a very popular topic recently and it will be easy to get access to it.

Tyr going into areas which are more muslim based ( and yes try avoiding the risky areas)...get the views of other people aswell including children :S

1. I like the way the blog is really detailed becuase it reflects on all the research / work u've been carrying out. I think the photo's are fantastic! (bless Tanya's cold hands!)

To improve your blog further i'd say that maybe it would be a good idea to do less vox pop's and perhaps listen in to sunrise radio on sunday's becuase sometimes they have interesting debates on issues like 'islamophobia.' -It might also be a good idea to go on their website and search their past shows to get hold of a few debates.

2. I would definately advise you to vary your locations since your target audience is 16+ and you purpose is to inform the general public then just filming in Greenford and Southall may just be too niche. - It could perhaps reflect bias views seeing as most of the people in Southall (and probably Greenford) are of asian nationality.

Seeing as now you've got to the interview with the author it might be a good, post production idea to have a part of the interview used as a voice over whilst you film him reading his own book, in a state of deep thought becuase it reflects upon the content of what he has written..

The steady pan shots were good, although a bit boring. For example, one showed two shops... I think that you could find a better location.

A voice over from two perspectives.

Focus on peoples facial expressions as they give away a lot of information on what the person is feeling.

1. This blog looks really detailed and includes some good research on the issue. Again organisation is looking great

2.Some interviews from the public will be great.however alot of productions include the idea of having a montage sequence at the beginning of documentaries so try and be unique.

Other than that this will be a great production and i look forward in seeing it-seen as our bollywood star is making it!!

1. Your blog looks really good, detailed and attractive. You've put alot of research into it which is good. And Naziya i love the way you got "inshallah" and everything up really shows what this all means to the both of you.

2. You could put some of your footage up so those people that arent in your class can see how your doing. You could also try and interview some Imaan's to get a religious perspective on the whole thing.

Good luck..

* The subject that you are following is very interesting and I’m looking forward to seeing what you come up with

* I think that you should look at other documentaries and get more ideas, i think that you need 2 analysis them as they will give you more ideas

* From the test screening you documentary looks good; i think that you need 2 focus on the background for you vox- pox as you can get people to stand behind a mosque as it relates to your production.

* Overall you have put a lot of effort into your blog and it looks good gud luck...

-Really impressed by the way that you guys post regularly. Shows that you are committed to your production and have a lot of ideas. Your blog is lively and colourful making it easy to read… is this reflecting of the theme of your documentary though? :S Also, well done for arranging an interview with an Islamic author…. Shows real initiative and will make your final production look well researched and professional. Andddd…. I like the way you’ve put up pictures of what you’ve been doing.... try and make that a more regular thing though. I think it would be a good idea for you to post up some secondary information on your topic as there are loads available. Also possibly post up the structure of your documentary so that it appears more focussed.

-I think that you should include a lot of archive material in your documentary which you could use in montages to provide a short background on your topic of discussion. Also try not to let voxpops dictate and tell your argument for you. Be more creative and find some more compelling evidence of your own as it will look far more impressive. I think you should use ethnic music as it will go well with your topic… could use prayers?

Good luck with everything and well done…

Your blog is really colourful, and i like the way you keep readers informed of whats happening in your production. from your blog i can tell you are really passionate about the subject of islamophobia and can see you putting across some strong points.

there is alot of imformation on islamophobia however i feel you could add alot more.

you could show how islamophobia is effecting different people and the consequences as islamophobia is a a strong issue in the world it links to what is happening in the real world.

i haven't seen any footage on this production but from the updates on your progress reports it seems that the production is coming along well.

i would like to see more views from different cultures negative and positive to get a blanced argument across to the audience.

Ooooh u guys have definately done alot of research on this topic... and the blog looks really detailed and colourful... however you should try to reflect your production in ur blog.

In the opening scenes, you should try to get loads of archive material such as news reports to show the importance of this issue..

Also try to create a more personal / emotional responce as this would really touch the audience and make the documentary more effective.

I think your blog is really different and interesting just like the topic you have chosen to cover. I really like the fact that its so detailed and from the amount you’ve done we can see how much effort you’ve put into your work. It seems like you’ve considered every aspect and have planned out your documentary really well. I think that the way the title is going to be written and the type of music you’ve chosen is totally relevant.
From what I saw, I thought that the shots were really steady and the Muslim woman that is interviewed-defiantly include that as her explanations were really good.
But, I think you could improve on the vox pops a bit more, because some of the people used didn’t give good answers and I cant remember now but I think the sound was a bit fuzzy- so try and improve that if it was.
I think you should try to include a variety of people from all ethnicities- as this will help stress your point. Also, as the topic your covering is currently in the media, you have a lot to go on-but make sure you don’t go over about 6-7 minutes, as you don’t want it to be too long as the audience may lose interest.

Your blogs cool. It's regurlarly updated and has a lot of detailed analysis.

There's a lot of stuff you can incorporate into your documentary as you're focusing on such a controversial issue. Rather then concentrating so much on vox pops, use more archive footage. Using archive footage, you can easily create both a narrative and a binary opposition of hero and villain/good and evil (think Bowling For Columbine).

Your blog is really bright! and intresting because the pictures make it look good and i see you've organised some interviews with a famous authoor which will add to ur production and make it better and more intresting.it will relate back to ur topic and this will get u bbetter grades and u will have some good information.

Because loads of groups are choosing to do something involving 'islam' and the whole 'islamapohbia 9/11 7/11 attacks make sure ur work is different from thew other groups

Your blog looks really good and its obvious you guys are getting a lot done which is great. However I think you should try to show more research on your blog-maybe of some exiting documentaries on a similar topic or on things that have been shown in the news about this issue. Its clever of you to interview a muslim author but try to show a lot of archive footage on how this issue has become so big recently as it will reinforce your message and make your doc better. Try to have a clear narrative to your documentary and post it up on your blog.
Well done for finishing your filming and good luck for the editing

I like the colours of your blog, very eye catching however some bright ones gets my eyes!! you have researched your topic well whcih shows you know exactly what to do.

You obviously know what you are doing but recently int hemedia loads of issues related to islam has been going on so try to make your documentary as different as possible.

I think you should try to interview people from different backgrounds not just muslim this then definatly shows your documentary is not bias.

Apart from that you blog looks fab!! and good luck

1.Your blog so far looks good and eyecatching. The topic you've chosen to do is quite good as it is original and something that not everyone is aware off. You have quite a lot of research and have analysed a range of texts. However you should write more about documentaries which have been covered regarding this topic to improve the blog and inform your audience more about this topic.

2. When filming ask a range of people from different ethnicites about islamaphobia and what they think about it , in order to educate the audience more about your chosen topic.

2. To make it successful i think you should show different peoples opinions on islamaphobia, especially children because it would be interesting for the audience to know how much knowledge children have about it.

3. You should focus on the religious side aswell as the political side to the subject.

The blog's really pretty, dont get me wrong but it does not reinforce the context of your documentary. The pictures make it interesting though!

Quite a few number of documentaries have previously been made regarding the issue of islamaphobia so you could think about creating a montage using this secondary data, as Moore did in Bowling for Columbine.
